Every Design Has A Story.
This Is Ours.
Before the ecosystem, there was the hustle.
It Started With A $500 Pallet.
My journey didn't begin with SHBE. It began in Chula Vista, California, buying shrink-wrapped pallets of customer-returned home appliances for $500 each.
You couldn't open them before buying. You went off what you could see from the outside and accepted the risk of whatever was buried in the middle.
I started with one pallet.
I tested appliances, removed return stickers from boxes with a heat gun, cleaned products that had already been used, threw away what was broken, sold what worked, and when I made enough money, bought another pallet.
At first, it was fun. Every layer could uncover something valuable.
But after about 12 pallets, I learned one of my first real business lessons.
Making money and building a good business are not the same thing.
I was doing the cleaning, testing, listing and selling while taking most of the risk.
The people selling the pallets bought inventory in bulk, unloaded trucks with a forklift and sold that risk downstream.
I had the hustle. They had the leverage.
The Hustle Kept Evolving.
Next came manifested Amazon return lots through liquidation auctions.
This time I could see what was supposed to be inside and the estimated retail value before bidding.
It seemed smarter.
Then one lot arrived with its biggest item, a roughly $400 pair of headphones, broken.
The company refunded me, but the lesson stayed with me.
Knowing the potential value doesn't eliminate the risk.
After roughly a year and 16 lots, auction prices and shipping costs kept eating into the margins.
So I changed direction again.
Learning To Recognize Opportunity.
I moved into retail arbitrage, searching local clearance aisles for products discounted locally but still selling near full price nationally.
One of my best finds was 24 Roku devices for $6 each. I resold them for about $27 each.
Every one sold within two days.
I wasn't just learning how to resell anymore.
I was learning how to recognize opportunity.
Then Everything Changed.
Around 2019, while doing retail arbitrage, my brother and I were also running a custom T-shirt business.
Then 2020 hit.
My eBay business went from roughly $18,000 in annual sales to about $400.
Clearance opportunities dried up and the model I had relied on stopped making sense.
So I pivoted again.
During the pandemic, my sister and I began making custom masks. Business took off.
Then mask requirements disappeared, and eventually that opportunity disappeared with them.
Every chapter made money differently. Every chapter taught me something.
And almost every chapter depended on an opportunity I didn't control.
I didn't want to keep chasing the next opportunity.
I wanted to build something I owned.
Side Hustles Build Empires.
In 2020, Side Hustles Build Empires was born.
The original SHBE wasn't software.
It wasn't an academy.
It wasn't an ecosystem.
It was a message.
You do not have to accept the hand you were dealt.
From 2020 through 2025, SHBE existed to motivate people to take control of their future, develop discipline and build something of their own.
That's why the designs preserved inside this Vault matter.
They weren't created simply to decorate clothing.
They became symbolic representations of the hustle itself.
The words and symbols represented lessons I had already lived.
The apparel became something you could wear to represent the mindset required to keep going.
Motivation Wasn't Enough.
I could tell somebody to keep going.
I could put discipline across their chest.
I could remind them that they were capable of building something bigger.
But motivation couldn't tell them what to do next.
People didn't just need motivation.
They needed structure.
They needed guidance.
They needed accountability.
They needed tools that could help them make better decisions when motivation disappeared.
So in 2025, SHBE began its biggest transition.
Instead of only representing the operator's mindset, I decided to build systems that could actually serve the operator.
From Message To System.
For the next year, I spent more than 1,000 hours coding, testing and solving problems, often putting in brutal days after working my 9-to-5.
The goal was to build what would become the SHBE Strategist.
At the same time, something bigger started taking shape.
Not another clothing brand.
Not another motivational website.
An ecosystem built around the actual journey of the solopreneur.
A place to find your first move.
A place to learn.
Tools to help operate the business.
Systems to create structure.
And apparel that represents the identity behind it all.
The mission didn't change. The method did.
These Aren't Leftovers.
They're artifacts from the era that made the next one possible.
Every design represents something from the journey: the discipline required to keep showing up, the pressure of putting your own money at risk, the willingness to pivot when something stops working, the hours nobody sees, and the belief that today's side hustle could become tomorrow's empire.
That's why these designs won't be reproduced.
The new SHBE is built to do more than motivate you.
But we won't erase the era that taught us why the system needed to exist in the first place.
